About
The Blue and White aims to create space for the student body to be fully expressive in transforming thoughts to actions, in order to build an innovative and collaborative community across all lines at Abington Friends School. Our mission is to accurately tell the story of Abington Friends School, and with this, we promise to prioritize respect in an effort to achieve journalistic integrity.
We understand our responsibility as journalists to set moral standards, withhold bias, and report from all perspectives. We believe that successful upholding these standards will strengthen the Abington Friends community as we plan to use truth to establish justice.
As members of the Friends education system, it is The Blue and White’s mission to incorporate the fundamental principles of the Quaker testimonies in order to protect individual voices and the integrity of the Abington Friends community. All content in The Blue and White including articles, photography, and design is created and edited by students at Abington Friends School. Final publication decisions are made by the Editors-in-Chief with support and advice of the faculty advisor. The editorial staff, Editors-in-Chief, and advisor of the Blue and White commit to the obligations stated above.
Comment Policy
The Blue and White is committed to fostering student engagement in articles the Blue and White publishes. The Blue and White seeks to use the comment sections to further thoughtful conversation, sharing of ideas, and connection between all members of the AFS community.
However, some comments will not be published due to going against the Blue and White’s guidelines.
When writing a comment, you should not:
- Use Artificial Intelligence to write or respond to comments
- Use vulgar, abusive, or threatening language
- Encourage illegal activity
- Go off topic. You can, however, relate things to the topic of the comment prompt
- Make personal attacks on commenters, students, teachers, or faculty
- Spam comment
The Blue and White believes that conversation creates a better informed community, and that is what the comment section is intended to do.
