Cobra Kai season six part one is an emotional and eventful start to the final season of the Netflix original series, but a good one. The first part of season six was released on July 18th, 2024, with five episodes.
The final season starts with Cobra Kai seemingly being brought to an end after Silver was exposed for paying the referee to secure Tory a win in the All Valley Under 18 final between Tory and Sam back in season four. On top of Cobra Kai’s reputation going down before season six, Sting Ray also told the police that it was Silver who beat him nearly to death and not Kreese, who was wrongfully put behind bars.
Silver is now behind bars and Kreese is on the run after breaking out of prison, Cobra Kai season six part one would start somewhat peacefully. In my opinion, that was one of the parts I enjoyed most about the beginning of this season; seeing all the characters at peace and just going to school was a nice change. The first episode was named “Peacetime in the Valley”, and that would perfectly describe the very first episode.
Early on it is clear that many grudges or conflicts are getting resolved.
There has always been conflict for almost all the seasons before season six—pretty much Cobra Kai vs Miyagi-Do. Johnny and Daniel had problems, Sam and Tory had problems, Miguel and Robby had problems, and towards the later end of the Cobra Kai series we started to see a shift, especially in season five, of these conflicts being resolved. Miguel and Robby made up in season five, and Johnny and Daniel went back and forth for a while but finally seemed to find a middle ground, and that alone is what led to the beginning of season six and made it a good beginning.
This season introduced many new things, but the best part of part one is seeing the international competition outside of the Valley. For every other season, the only karate competition we have seen is the competition in the Valley. Seeing the new dojo Kreese and Sensei Kim run in South Korea was a very nice change.
I felt that it made the show exciting and anticipating because we get to see how tough the competition will be in the Sekai Taikai compared to the typical All Valley Under 18 tournaments. Fans are left wondering how our favorite dojo out of the Valley will compete internationally.
Part one of season six is truly the beginning of the end, but opened so many doors and possibilities for viewers. The show has only shown us one international dojo which as I mentioned is Sensei Kim’s and now Kresse’s, but that is only one of the many other dojos that will be competing in the Sekai Taikai. That is crazy to me because the show sets it up so we see that the Sekai Taikai is not the typical All Valley Under 18 tournament, but it is a tournament where there are plenty of dojos with many backgrounds.
The last five seasons have been great ones, but it would have gotten repetitive if it was another season of Cobra Kai vs Miyagi-Do.
The first half of season six is a success because it keeps the consistency of all the other seasons Cobra Kai has offered but also adds change, and change that was needed to keep the show going, but also to end it nicely.
Fans not only have parts two and three of season six to look forward to, but also can look forward to seeing where Miguel ends up for college, Carmen and Johnny’s baby, the Sekai Taikai, and simply a good ending to an amazing series.

I agree that Cobra Kai season 6, part 1, did a great job setting up for an epic season 6. The conclusion of the series had a lot of pressure put upon it by fans, and part 1 showed fans how much was still in store. The ending set up very well for the Sekai Taikai and was a shocking twist. I remember watching it back in the summer, and greatly anticipating parts 2 and 3. Even though I didn’t love the release format and thought Netflix could have handled it better, I do think it built up a lot of excitement and anticipation was the future. Overall, I really enjoyed season 6 and feel it wrapped the series up well with each character getting their own triumph before their sendoff. I really enjoyed the series’ ending and am excited for Karate Kid: Legends coming out in late May, with Ralph Macchio returning as Daniel.
